Stone Worktops
Do different edge details cost different prices?
Yes. The more grinding to be done or the more intricate the edge, the higher the cost will be. For instance a Double Pencil
polished edge is cheaper than a moulded, bull-nosed or Mitred Apron edge.
What are Quartz Worktops?
Quartz worktops are approximately 93-95% quartz crystals mixed with a 7-5% balance of colour pigments and bonding agents. The
result of this mixture is a technically advanced stone product produced in a broad spectrum of modern and fashionable colours.
Silestone brand quartz also has the added advantage of having Microban® antibacterial protection built in to the product.
What is the standard thickness or slab material?
Limestone, marble, slate and granite are all available in 20mm, 30mm and not so commonly 40mm slabs. Quartz slabs, such as
Silestone, are available in 20mm and 30mm only. We find most clients use 20mm for bathroom tops and 30mm for kitchen worktops.
Do different material types cost different prices?
Yes. As a rough guide limestone is perhaps the cheaper of natural stones as it soft and is therefore easier for us to work with.
Marble has a mid-ranged price band, leaving granite with its hard formation costing a little more due to the extended time it
takes us to work upon. Quartz, e.g. Silestone, is an equivalent or higher price than granite. When asking for a quotation if you
ask us to base our price on a mid-range stone of a particular category (limestone, marble, granite, quartz) this will give you a
good idea of a guide price.
Stock
Am I limited to your current stock?
No. Touchstone has established contacts with many U.K. and European quarries, suppliers and wholesalers. We are able to source
almost any stone as long as it remains commercially quarried in the world today.
